Mind Map Software

In the first week of Technology workshop we were told about setting up wikis and blogs. I know a little bit about setting up blogs so I'll talk about here about free mind map software. Its a great software to create mind maps. There is nothing difficult to understand as everything is easy to understand and handle. I've added an image of Behaiorism and Humaninm theory contrast which looks great.

Kids love to play online...

Today we are learning how to create animations and online movies. Kids love this kind of stuff and I've created an animation movie. Here are some screen shots of the movie.

Dust Echoes and m&ms chart

Dust Echoes

Dust Echoes is an aborginal story of a spearman having a magic spear which can transform itself into seven spears. A Withdoctor was jealous of his spearpower and respect he recieved because of his spear so he stole powers from a bag and tried to takeover the village but got defeated by spearman ultimately. This is a great story of culutre addressing jealousy, forgiveness and community. We took snapshots of the video and made them into our own narrative form of short story.

We have been looking into how we can implement maths into technology. We created a chart of m & ms that how many colors of mnms are there in a packet. We developed a chart in Excel of how many beans of each colors are there in a packet. This would give children a great idea about real life things and how they deal with them in everyday life.

The activity we did today is to investigate how to make a frog jump . We had a piece of cardboard, scissors, sticky tape, rubber band and ofcourse a paper frog. We worked in groups of 2 and 3. It was good to find out how different groups justified what and why they did to make the frog jump. The aim of this acitivity is to investigate the design that how does it work, produce it, analyzed it that it worked or didn’t work and then evaluate at the end.

Second activity was even more interesting we created some quizes and activites on a site www.quia.com and it was great. I believe that its lot easier to engage kids with such activities and tec hnology. Icreated some games and quized also which I m gonna post here.

This is my first post on the blog. Today we created a brochure of the some destination and I created a brochure for tourism Queensland. I have never used microsoft publisher before and it was great experience using it. Things are not in order on the brochure as I expected after viewing it in HTML page but I didn't know how to arrange them. Though publisher works like any other graphic programme i.e. Coraldraw or Adobe photoshop but yet it is different also. I hope I'll do better next time with publisher as I have better idea of it. Thanks to my friends sitting next to me :-)
